Dental Veneers in Islamabad

Front teeth that are chipped, worn, crowded at the edges or a shade you have stopped smiling in photographs about. Porcelain and composite veneers are planned, previewed and bonded at F-10 Markaz by Dr Kiran Haseeb, with the design agreed before any tooth is touched.

In short

What are dental veneers?

A dental veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or composite bonded to the front surface of a tooth. It changes the shade, the shape and the alignment of what people actually see, without treating the whole tooth the way a crown does. Veneers sit in cosmetic dentistry, but the planning is prosthodontic: the bite, the gum line and the edges have to work together or the result looks like teeth that were stuck on.
There are two routes. Composite bonding is sculpted onto the tooth in one visit and can usually be added to or repaired later. Porcelain veneers, normally E-max lithium disilicate, are made in a laboratory and bonded at a second visit; they hold their colour far longer and reflect light like enamel. Which one suits you depends on how much correction the case needs, not on which is newer.
At Dr Kiran Haseeb Dental Clinic in F-10 Markaz, Islamabad, the smile design is shown to you before any preparation begins. Gum health is stabilised first, because veneers bonded against inflamed gums look wrong within months, and crowding that needs braces or aligners is dealt with before the cosmetic stage rather than hidden behind it.

The three parts of a veneer case

Part 1

The design

The shape, length and shade are planned first, on photographs and a model, so you see the intended result before a handpiece is picked up.

Part 2

The preparation

Usually a fraction of a millimetre of enamel, and sometimes none at all for composite. The less that is removed, the more of your own tooth stays under the veneer for life.

Part 3

The veneer

Porcelain made in the laboratory, or composite sculpted at the chair, bonded with the shade checked in daylight before it is set permanently.
Options

Types of veneer treatment.

How many teeth show when you smile, how much correction is needed and whether the bite is stable decide which of these is right. All three are planned from the same photographs and model.

Single visit

Composite bonding

Tooth coloured composite shaped directly onto the tooth in one appointment. Ideal for chips, small gaps and edges that have worn down. Repairable and the least invasive option, though it needs polishing more often and stains sooner than porcelain.

Two visits

Porcelain veneers

E-max lithium disilicate shells made in the laboratory and bonded at the second visit. They hold colour, resist staining from tea and coffee, and give the translucency that makes a front tooth look real rather than painted.

Full case

Smile makeover

Six to ten units planned as one design, often with gum contouring or whitening of the lower teeth first so the shade matches. Staged over a few appointments, with a trial smile worn before anything is made final.
Cost

What do veneers cost in Islamabad?

Veneer quotes vary more than almost any other dental treatment, and the reason is usually the material and the number of units rather than the dentist. A quote is given after photographs and an examination, in writing, for the finished case rather than a per-tooth figure that grows once the design is agreed.

What a written quote should include

How many teeth are being treated

Most cases are six or eight upper teeth, because that is what shows in a normal smile. Treating two chipped teeth is a different price from designing a full arch, and you should be told which your case actually needs.

Composite or porcelain

Composite is sculpted in the clinic and costs less per tooth. Porcelain involves a laboratory, a second appointment and a material that lasts considerably longer, so it sits higher.

Whether the gums or bite need work first

Bleeding gums, a gum line that sits unevenly, or heavy grinding all have to be treated before veneers, otherwise the result does not hold. That work is quoted separately and honestly.

The laboratory and the material

E-max from a recognised laboratory costs more than an unnamed ceramic. Ask which material and which lab, because that is where quiet savings are usually made.
A word about very cheap veneers. If a quote is far below everyone else, ask three questions: is it composite or porcelain, how many teeth does the figure cover, and is gum treatment included or billed later. Full-coverage crowns are sometimes sold as veneers, which means far more of the tooth is cut away than a veneer requires. A quote is only comparable when it names the material and the number of units.

Safety

Are veneers safe for your teeth?

Veneers are safe when the preparation is conservative and the gums are healthy first. Composite usually needs no enamel removed at all. Porcelain normally needs a fraction of a millimetre, which is why the design is agreed before anything is touched.
Two honest cautions. Preparation is not reversible: once enamel is shaped, that tooth will always need something on it. And a veneer bonded over untreated gum disease or active decay will fail, so those are treated first rather than covered over.
Sensitivity for a few days after preparation is normal and settles. The NHS guidance on veneers describes the same procedure and the same caution about enamel, which is worth reading before you commit to a full case.
Suitability

Are veneers right for you?

Veneers solve appearance problems on teeth that are basically sound. Where a tooth is heavily filled, broken or root treated, a crown is the honest answer instead. You will be told which applies after the examination and photographs.

Usually straightforward

Needs sorting out first

If veneers are not the right answer for your case you will be told so, and shown what is. Sometimes whitening plus one bonded edge achieves what a patient came in asking eight veneers for, and that is the better decision even though it is the smaller one.
Step by step

How veneers are done, step by step.

A composite case is usually one appointment. A porcelain case is normally two to three visits across about two weeks, and you are never sent away with teeth you would not want to be seen in.

Stage 1 · Visit 1

Examination and shade

Gums, bite and each tooth are checked, photographs are taken and the shade is matched in daylight. This is where it is decided whether veneers are the right treatment at all.

Stage 2 · Visit 1

Smile design

The shape and length are designed on a model and shown to you. Changes are made at this point, on the model, rather than after the porcelain has been made.

Stage 3 · Visit 2

Preparation

Minimal enamel reduction where the case needs it, then an impression or digital scan. Temporary veneers are fitted so you leave looking normal.

Stage 4 · Laboratory

The veneers are made

The laboratory builds each unit to the agreed design, layering the ceramic so the edges keep the translucency of natural enamel.

Stage 5 · Visit 3

Try-in and bonding

The veneers are tried in with the shade checked before anything is set, then bonded, the bite adjusted and the margins polished.

The honest answer

Do veneers hurt?

Composite bonding usually needs no anaesthetic at all. Porcelain preparation is done under local anaesthetic and you should feel pressure and water, not pain.
Longevity

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers commonly last ten to fifteen years and often longer. Composite is a shorter cycle, roughly four to seven years, with polishing and small repairs along the way. Neither is permanent, and any dentist who says otherwise is selling.
What actually ends a veneer is rarely the material. It is grinding at night, biting nails or opening things with the front teeth, and gum disease changing the line the veneer was designed against. A night guard is recommended for anyone who clenches.
Care is ordinary: brush twice daily, clean between the teeth, and keep a scaling and polishing appointment every six months so the margins are checked and polished. Whitening does not lighten porcelain, so the natural teeth are whitened first if the shade matters.

What we place

The materials used at this clinic.

The material decides how the veneer ages. A named ceramic from a documented manufacturer can be matched and repaired years later; an unnamed one often cannot.

E-max lithium disilicate

The usual choice for porcelain veneers: strong enough for thin sections and translucent enough to look like enamel. Ivoclar, the manufacturer.

Layered composite

Used for single chips, edge repairs and cases where nothing should be removed. Built up and polished at the chair, and adjustable later without a laboratory.
Ask any clinic which ceramic and which laboratory they use. A clear answer is a good sign, and a vague one is worth knowing before the enamel is touched.

Related treatments

Treatments that go with veneers

Veneers sit inside cosmetic dentistry alongside teeth whitening, composite bonding and gum contouring. Where a tooth is heavily filled or root treated a dental crown protects it better, and a missing tooth needs a dental implant rather than a veneer. Crowding is corrected first with braces or clear aligners, gum levels are evened with cosmetic gum contouring, and anyone in pain today should start with the emergency dentist in Islamabad. Everything is carried out at the dental clinic in F-10 Markaz.

Before you call

Veneer questions, answered honestly.

It depends on the material, the number of units and whether the gums or bite need work first. Composite bonding per tooth sits well below porcelain, and a full upper design of eight E-max units is a different scale again. You will be quoted in writing after photographs and an examination, for the finished case rather than a starting figure.

Composite usually removes nothing. Porcelain normally needs a fraction of a millimetre of enamel, and that part is not reversible, which is why the design is agreed first and the preparation kept as small as the case allows. What genuinely damages teeth is aggressive preparation, where a tooth is cut down for a crown and called a veneer.

However many show when you smile, which is usually six or eight upper teeth. Treating only two often leaves a visible shade difference beside them. This is decided from your own photographs, not from a standard number.

That is what the shade appointment is for. If the natural teeth are darker than the shade you want, they are whitened first, because whitening will not lighten porcelain afterwards.

Mild irregularity, yes. Real crowding, no. Straightening with braces or aligners first, then veneering only what still needs it, preserves far more tooth than masking crowding behind thick porcelain.

Composite is repaired at the chair. A debonded porcelain veneer can often be rebonded if it is intact, and a fractured one is remade. Keep the piece and call the clinic rather than gluing anything yourself.

Usually yes. A porcelain case needs about two weeks between preparation and fitting, so a two to three week visit works. Send photographs on WhatsApp before you travel and you will get a realistic schedule.
